Task 2 - Collection and analysis of early instrumental data
Coordinator: Maria de Fátima Nunes
Main objectives: search, collect and analyze early instrumental data (EID), prior to the beginning of regular meteorological observations (mid-19th century in Lisbon)
Procedures: selection of libraries and archives for source research; formulation of protocols for EID retrieving; preparation of databases on a monthly basis (including metadata); verification of data quality; conversion of different unit systems used by 18th and 19th century observers into the SI system
Expected outcomes/results:
Delivering Portuguese pre-instrumental series
Two papers in international journals concerning, respectively, 18th century and 19th century EID
