MAIN RESEARCH TOPICS
HISTORY OF CLIMATE AND PHYTOGEOGRAPHY
HISTORICAL, INSTRUMENTAL, PALAEOCLIMATIC AND GEOBOTANICAL DATA
1. Historical climatology and climate reconstruction, based on documentary data prior to the existence of regular instrumental observations. Studies of climate variability of the 17th and 18th century.
2. Studies of climatic variability based in instrumental and modelled data.
3. Research on actual and potential vegetation, succession dynamics, relationship with environmental factors in different vulnerable ecosystems prone to considerable damages according to some present-century projections of climate change.
4. Palaeoclimatic and phylogeographical studies: phylogeography of plants in Europe, and the intrepretation of their genetic signals with the state-of-art knowledge on palaeoclimates, helping to reconstruct Quaternary environments.
