In 2003, while teaching in secondary schools, she took the post-graduate course in Land Use Management and Environmental Planning by the New University of Lisbon. In 2004-2005, she took her M.Sc. in Environmental Science in the University of Wollongong, Australia. In mid 2005, back in Portugal, she worked for the Agência para a Prevenção de Incêndios Florestais, in Miranda do Corvo, developing research in fire risk and carrying out technical work in GIS for forest fire prevention. In 2006, she joined the Centre for Geographical Studies (CEG) of the University of Lisbon as a research scholar for the UrbKlim project, dealing with topics related to urban climatology, where she stayed until the end of 2008. Since February 2009, she is working as a research scientist in the Institute for Environment and Sustainability of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, in Italy, and maintains the collaboration with the
research group on Climate and Environmental Changes (CliMA) of the CEG, Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning (IGOT), University of Lisbon.

Main research interests: Applied physical geography, environmental science, climatology, forest fires.
