Graduated in Physical Geography and Planning by the University of Lisbon in 2003. Master in Geography, Climate and Society (University of Lisbon) in 2008. Ph.D. student in Physical Geography. The research work is about Funchal local climate (Madeira Island) applied to spatial planning. Since May 2005 professionally works in the Madeira's Civil Engineering Laboratory, at the Hydraulic and Energetic Technology Department, coordinating a research programme about "The dynamics of the main Madeira island drainage basins".

Main research interests: Meteorology, urban climate; bioclimatology; remote sensing, extreme weather events and hydrogeomorphology; GIS and Cartography.
