Assistant Researcher at the Centre for Geographical Studies and PhD in Physical Geography from the University of Lisbon. She is integrated in the Research Group on Antarctic Environments and Climate Change (AntECC) and Climate and Environmental Changes( CliMA). Her research interests focus on mountain climatology, remote sensing of snow and on the effects of climate change on permafrost. Her PhD focussed at the serra da Estrela (Central Portugal), where she studied local climatology. Collaborates since 2005 on several research projects concerning permafrost and climate change in the Maritime Antarctic. Her work at the Centre for Geographical Studies is focussing in the remote sensing of snow cover and on the influence of snow on the ground temperature regime.
