Task 4 – Validation using climate model data and natural proxies

Coordinator: João Santos

Main objectives: clarify the role of natural and anthropogenic forcing on the past climatic variability in Portugal, which can be useful to improve our understanding of the recent-past and future climatic variability in Portugal

Procedures: comparisons will be performed between reconstructed and simulated series, in one hand, and with other proxies, on the other hand; reconstructed vs. simulated variability; reconstructed series vs. natural proxies

Expected outcomes/results:

Delivering knowledge concerning the validation of reconstructed data using different data sources and methodologies

Two papers in international journals

A partial contribution to a PhD thesis is also expected
